<div itemprop="description">KOURI, Joan nee Bosada B.A M.Ed. <br><br>Sept 12, 1931 - February 6, 2018 <br><br>It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing away of Joan Lylian Kouri on February 6, 2018. For 63 years she was the loving and cherished wife of Robert Kouri. Beloved sister to Gloria (Haddad), and brothers Edward and Richard. She was predeceased by her sisters Vivian (Assaf), Eleanor (Ross), and her brother Robert. She also leaves behind six godchildren and many caring relatives and friends.<br><br>Joan had a rich and highly productive life. Hers was a career of incredible vigor and forcefulness. She demonstrated boundless enthusiasm for whatever task she undertook. She worked as a Remedial Therapist at the Montreal Children's Hospital for 25 years. She became an active supporter of the hospital for the rest of her life. She enjoyed art, antiques, theatre, travel, golf and most especially politics. Politics was not a spectator sport for her. Joan served as President of the Lac St. Louis Federal Liberal Association as well as President of Canada's Liberal National Women's Commission. She served on the boards of numerous organizations including the Lakeshore General Hospital and the Cedars Home. Joan was a Commissioner of the Immigration and Refugee Board for ten years.<br><br>Joan was the recipient of many honours including the Queen Elizabeth II Gold and Diamond Jubilee Medals. She also received the Governor General's Caring Canadian Award. Her most recent was the 150 Canada Community Service Award.<br><br>The family will receive condolences at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 Sources Blvd, Dollard-des Ormeaux, QC H9B 2A6, 514-685-3344, --www.rideaumemorial.com on Monday, February 12, 2018 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Tuesday, February 13 from 9:30-11:00 am followed by Funeral Prayers. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to the Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation or to a charitable organization of your choice will be appreciated.<br><br></div>
