Josephine “Yvonne” Fernandes, 88, of Brownsburg-Chatham, passed away the morning of July 23rd, 2024, at home surrounded by her loved ones.
Yvonne was born on February 1st, 1936, to Augustine and Virginia Fernandes (nee Da Silva). Yvonne was predeceased by both of her parents, and her husband Cecil De Abreu. She is survived by her brothers, Richard (Juliet), Joseph (Virginia) and her children Darrell (Bea), Felicia (Danny) and Jason, her former son-in-law Leslie, as well as her grandchildren, Ashley, Julian and Sean.
Yvonne had a courage and strength that was indescribable throughout her entire life and faced all hard times and health issues with determination that was beyond compare. Her sense of humour, her quick wit and love of laughter, and her childlike fascination with all things will be greatly missed by us all. Our love for her will remain and live on in our hearts forever.
Our family extends a special thank you to the home palliative care team of the CLSC Argenteuil, as well as the staff at the Saint-Eustache hospital palliative care unit, for making it possible for Yvonne’s last wish to come home a reality. Your kindness and support will never be forgotten.
