In Loving Memory of Julia Brostl (May 3rd, 1934 – June 24th 2024)
Julia will be fondly remembered by her husband, Stanko, her adoring children Karin and Roland and their spouses’ Mark and Anne, Julia’s beloved grandchildren Monika, Richard, Thomas, Tamara, Amalia and Alexander and a host of other relatives and friends.
Born in Metzenseifen Slovakia, she was the second youngest of 8 siblings.
( Johannis, Anna, Gretl, Magda, Joseph, Rudolf, Frieda )
Julia met her future husband, Stanko, at a company party in Koflach Austria, in July of 1952. They dated for 4 years and after 2 years where engaged.
She arrived in Canada on February 16th, 1956, to join her future husband, who had arrived 6 months prior. They got married on March 10th of the same year.
After the arrival of their first child, Karin, Julia was homesick and went back to Austria. Her stay was not long, realizing that Canada was her home. She returned with Stanko and Karin ready to start back up where she left off.
In May of 1964 they welcomed their son, Roland.
Through the years She hosted several memorable parties for their friends and family, with people staying until wee hours of the morning. Julia was an excellent baker, creating extravagant tortes, sumptuous cakes and chewy cookies. Her family benefited the most from all her wonderful creations!
She also was part of group of friends that met weekly, getting together over coffee and cake (Café Klatsch). Their claim to fame was winning second prize in the 6/49 Lotto in 1990. Let’s just say after their windfall, the cafe Klatsch became a lot livelier.
Over the years, Julia and her husband, Stanko raised their children and travelled back to Europe to visit family and friends, forging long lasting relationships. In her retirement years, Julia, with her husband enjoyed the Florida sun and surf with her children and grandchildren.
Many thanks to the wonderful people who worked at the Manoir Beaconsfield, for all their love and care for Julia and for being there to comfort her in last moments of life. Also, we would like to thank the people at the Maxwell who helped take care of Julia.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Rideau Funeral Home located at 4275 Sources Boulevard, Dollard-des-Ormeaux (Quebec) H9B 2A6, on July 7th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
