It is with a heavy heart that our family wishes to announce the passing of our beloved father, Founder and President of the Egyptian Community of Canada, Former President of the General Union of Egyptians Abroad, respected businessman, Eng. Mamdouh Galal Ismail, who passed away suddenly at home, in Canada, at the age of 76.
He leaves in mourning Johanne, his children Karina Ka (Alexina), Laila Nefertari (Lylia, Mila), Soraya Kemit (Loukas), Galal Sethi, Zaki Zoser, Karim Ramsis, Nadia Nofret; brothers and sisters Moheub & Kariman (Medhat, Mervat, Maged, Mona), Ismail (Medhat, Mohamed, May), Iglal (Hind, Iglal, Mohamed, Randa, May), Francoise, Sahar (Craig, Jerome, Kedre, Lee, Kara), and the late Ramy, friends, as well as his extended family of the Egyptian community abroad and all those he impacted throughout his life. He was a pillar of strength and wisdom for us all. His deep values for peace, unity, humanity, spirituality and respect have been at the forefront of all his endeavors, legacy, and core nature. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
His innate wisdom, deep curiosity, and vast knowledge encompassed nearly every aspect of life, making him a cherished source of insight, guidance, and inspiration for many. He was highly respected across many different communities, and we are deeply grateful for the kind words and heartfelt tributes coming to us from around the world. Your expressions of respect and appreciation truly honor his memory and the impact he made. We are sure he is smiling from above and sending us all the strength to remain united.
In order to honor his memory and legacy as well as celebrate the remarkable life he led, we wish to inform you of the following:
A ceremony celebrating his love and commitment for humanity and unity, as exemplified by his endeavors for the General Union of Egyptians Abroad, will be held on Sunday, September 22nd, 2024 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, at the Rideau Funeral Home & Cemetery, located at 4239 Sources Boulevard, Dollard-Des-Ormeaux, QC, H9B 2A6. Visiting hours will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, followed by an inter-faith service from 3:00 to 4:00 PM.
We ask for your respect in honoring his memory as well as his legacy of building bridges and his last wishes, which like him, were trailblazing.
May you rest in eternal peace, Dad. You will forever be in our thoughts and hearts, and live through us.
