It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Maria Piazza (née Tramuta) on September 16, 2026 at the age of 98. She was born in Sicily on March 8, 1928, and came to Canada with her beloved husband, the late Francesco Piazza. In Montreal they created a beautiful life together.
Maria was a devoted mother and doting grandmother, loving sister, mother-in-law, and dear friend. She will be deeply missed by her children, Vince (Cindy) and Angela, her cherished grandson Christopher, and her many relatives and friends.
Known for her warmth, generosity, boundless energy and of course , her wonderful cooking, Maria touched the lives of all who knew her. Her greatest joy was her family, to whom she devoted her life. Her kitchen was a place where family and friends gathered, where no one ever left hungry, and where there was always room for one more at the table. She took great pride and joy in caring for the people she loved.
May she rest in peace, reunited with her beloved Francesco.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, September 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. followed by a celebration of Maria’s life and interment at the same location.
