It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marjorie Grace (Grenon) Smart.
Marjorie passed away peacefully at the Lakeshore General Hospital, Pointe-Claire, Quebec, on September 17, 2025, at age 96.
Born May 30, 1929, in Ogdensburg N.Y., Marjorie was raised in Shawville, Quebec, by parents Ruth Williams and Asa Smart. She was the eldest of four but was sadly predeceased by Joan, Bill and Phyllis.
Mom is lovingly and eternally missed by her children Marc Grenon, Wendy and son-in-law Malcolm Andrews. Her thirteen grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren have fond memories of Nanny/Grandma. Also many cousins and nieces and nephews.
Mom grew up working very hard in the family restaurant, then later at the Ottawa Civic and Moncton Hospitals. She was a foodie and loved growing plants. To the end, she enjoyed her beloved Montreal Canadiens, CBC Radio and watching Jeopardy, although Ken couldn’t quite measure up to Alex.
Sincere thanks to Kish and the staff at Residence Rasam for their loving care over the past years. Thanks also to Dr. Caleb Bouhairie and the staff of 3 West at the Lakeshore General Hospital for their kind attention in her last days.
A donation to the Lakeshore Hospital Foundation in her name would be appreciated for those able and willing.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date for family and friends.
