In her parents’ arms, surrounded by compassionate staff in the PICU at the Montreal Children’s Hospital, Maya flew away peacefully on Friday afternoon, May 3, 2024, after complications from Long QT Syndrome at the age of 14 months.
She will be profoundly missed and so fondly remembered by her mother and father, Jessica and David; her big brother, Mario, the namesake of his late maternal grandfather; grandparents, Mattea (late Mario), and Samia and Edward; great-grandfather Salvatore (late Libera); aunts and uncles, Christina (Kevin), Vera (Jermaine), and Ramy (Sandy); cousins, James, Amber, and Jacob. Also surviving are numerous (great) aunts, (great) uncles, cousins of various degrees, and friends. Maya’s radiant smile, infectious laugh, and silly spirit lit up the lives of those touched by her. That bright light lives on in her loved ones’ hearts.
The visitation will be held at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 boul. des Sources, D.D.O., QC (514-685-3344), on Monday, May 13, 2024, from 2 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. George and St. Joseph Coptic Orthodox Church, 17400 boul. Pierrefonds, Pierrefonds, QC, on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Rideau Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the following organizations that benefit children (and their families) affected by diseases of the heart: Fondation en cœur, en-coeur.org/en/; SADS Foundation Canada, www.sads.ca
