With heavy hearts we announce that Peter Jarvis passed away on September 17,2024, in Pointe-Claire, at the age of 85. He is survived by Jean (Jeanie) McKay, his loving wife of 58 years, and devoted children Scott, (Paula), Jodi (Shane) and Steve. He was the beloved “papa” to Kayla and grandfather to Daniel, Corbin, Liam, Conner, Chandler and Corrinne.
Peter fought a valiant fight to stay with those he loved. In his last years he was beset with a combination of health problems but whenever his life was seriously threatened he always found a way to bounce back. Even though his recent setback was very serious and things looked grim, he pulled himself back once again from the brink and his close family was able to visit with him one last time, enjoying his strength, grace and his special sense of humor. It was his final gift to his wife and grown children to spend his last good hours with them at his bedside.
Wherever Peter went he made friends easily. He was popular with the other residents and staff of The Wellesley where Peter and Jean lived for the past few years and most recently at CHSLD Vigi in Dollard-des-Ormeaux where Peter dealt with his declining health issues with a dignified acceptance and a smile. The family wishes to thank the wonderful healthcare providers, especially Marie-Lisa, Sylvie, Stephanie and Ryan.
Peter will be greatly missed as a loving husband, father, grandfather, godfather, uncle, in-law and friend. He will be forever with us in our hearts.
A funeral will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024 at Rideau Funeral Home, 4239 Boul. Des Sources, Dollard-des-Ormeaux. Visitation will be held from 12-1 p.m. A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. Followed by a reception.
In Lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to an organization of your choice, the SPCA or Animatch due to his affection for his loyal companion Riley.
