December 21, 1942 - October 31, 2018
Richard Joseph Potvin, aged 75 passed away suddenly on Wednesday October
31st 2018 at Sacré Coeur Hospital in Montreal. Richard was born in Montreal
on December 21st 1942 to the late Georges Potvin and the late Elianne Perron.
He was raised in Montreal, educated at both McGill and Concordia and chose to
spend most of his work life in his beloved home town of Montreal. He is survived
by Joanne Belsito, his cherished wife of thirty-five years, his sisters Nicole,
Danielle (Luc Parent), his mother-in-law Palmira Belsito, his sisters-in-law Rose
Belsito and Lillian Pavlik (Steve). He also leaves behind his nephews Benoit,
Georges-Etienne and Jean-Phillipe Parent, Brent Seymour, six grand nieces
and nephews as well as numerous Potvin and Perron cousins. He will be deeply
missed by his nephew and godson Andrew Pavlik to whom he instilled his love of
all things trains. His absence will be felt by the close-knit group of great friends
with whom he shared many wonderful meals, glasses of wine and morning
coffees at McDonalds.
Richard was an avid train aficionado, and could frequently be found at railway
crossings waiting for the trains to pass to take photographs or chasing the trains
to the rail yard or station. He had a great sense of humour, always had a smile on
his face and touched everyone he met in a positive way.
Thank-you to the Emergency Medical Team in Kirkland and to the staff at Sacré
Coeur Hospital for their assistance. Special heartfelt thanks to Mike Argento and
