It is with great sadness that the family of Soon Chor (Jerry) Loo announce his peaceful passing on Sunday March 2, 2025 in his 93rd year. He was the beloved husband to the late Lai Fong Loo. Loving father and father-in-law to Sylvia and Peter, Esther and Oscar, Amy and Patrick, Vivian and Howard, Richard and Erick. He was adored and will be missed by his grandchildren Kevin (Tracy), Kathleen (Geoff), Eric (Mallory), Sarah (Jonathan), Alexander, Melissa, Jacob (Gabi), Noah and Jin and as well by his great grandchildren Brandon, Tyler, Martin and Bennett.
Jerry came to Canada, at a young age of 21 years old, with hopes of seeking a better life for himself and his young family. Through sheer hard work and an undaunted determination, he and his wife were able to raise 5 children and gave them an opportunity to have a university education.
A jack of many trades in life, he taught himself woodworking and made numerous wooden rocking horses for his grandchildren. Also he liked innovative technology such as computers and he learned on his own how to use a computer.
Throughout his life, Jerry had a love for Chinese opera and his children grew up listening to his passionate and captivating voice when he was singing. His favorite past time was watching hockey, football, baseball, tennis and golf. Jerry loved going for walks and he enjoyed the exercise classes at the Evergreen Retirement Home.
While our Dad will be deeply missed, his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him. The love and joy he brought to the lives of his family will never be forgotten, and his absence will be felt every day.
The family would like to thank all the staff, at Evergreen Retirement Home of Mississauga, who was exceptionally caring, friendly and kind to our Dad. They treated him like family and have gone above and beyond to make him feel that Evergreen was his home. The family extends sincere gratitude to the internists, nurses and staff of 2B Credit Valley for their care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or Parkinson Canada in memory of Jerry Soon Chor Loo.
