<div itemprop="description">It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Chittaranjan Bhat, known to most as Shyam, on Sunday evening, November 24, 2024, surrounded by his family. <br> <br>Born on August 20, 1937, in Chinchani, Maharashtra India, he was a devoted husband, cherished father, and a beloved member of the community. <br> <br>Shyam is survived by his loving wife, Chandrika, his children Varsha and her husband Dave, Asha and her partner Robin, and Sandip and his wife Johanne. He is remembered by his extended family and community who will miss him deeply. <br> <br>Shyam was admired for his kindness, empathy, and warmth. Although he was naturally reserved, those who knew him best also enjoyed his mischievous sense of humour and his ability to bring lightness and joy to any room. To his family, he was a hero, to others, a trusted guide, a loyal friend, and a source of strength. <br> <br>A true lover of music, philosophy, and spirituality, Shyam found peace and purpose in exploring life’s deeper questions. He shared these passions generously, inspiring and uplifting everyone around him. <br> <br>His memory lives on in the many lives he touched and the countless memories he created. His legacy lies in the hundreds of students who learned by his example and cultivated a spirit of selfless service (seva). <br> <br>Shyam’s profound wisdom and unwavering compassion will remain with us always, guiding us in spirit. <br> <br>A private funeral is being held per Shyam's wishes, followed by a community memorial service from 7pm - 8pm on Thursday, December 5th at the Hindu Mandir (50 Kesmark Street, Dollard-des-Ormeaux). All are welcome. <br></div>
