It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our father Derrick Ronald Woodward on September 27, 2020.
Derrick was born in London, England on November 10, 1928. Husband to Pamela (nee Hignett, predeceased 10 years),
companion to Ann Gosnell,
father to Steven, Joanne (Edgar) and Peter (Isabelle), grandfather to Jacob, Sean, Sara and Damien.
Derrick was a fortunate man to have three major loves in his life. His wife Pam, who he was married to for 57 years, and then in his later years,
his loving companion Ann Gosnell, who put the twinkle back in his eye.
His third love was the Mavis, a 27-foot wooden sailboat he built by hand and which upon he spent many happy times at the Pointe Claire Yacht Club.
He was an outgoing individual who always had a story or a joke to share and he loved meeting people, especially if they had dogs.
Derrick spent most of his working career with Johnson Wires, now AstenJohnson. He was well respected in the pulp and paper industry and made many friends both at home, and in his work travels across Canada and around the world.
There will be a small service for family, with a broader celebration of life to be held at a later date when friends and family can safely gather.
If desired, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or AQVA would be appreciated.
