With heavy hearts we announce the death of Don McKnight on June 3rd, 2022. Left to mourn are his loving wife of 67 years, Joan, and his children Stephen, Kathy (Geoffrey Dowd), Gordon (Sandra Pytel), and Linda (François Dupuis). His grandchildren and his great-grandchildren will miss his ever-present kindness.

He was predeceased by his brothers Philip (Margaret-Anne) and Peter (Carolyn), and is survived by his sisters Barbara and Anne (Brian Bradford) and his brother David (Carolyn). He is survived also by his sister-in-law, Eileen Cummings, and too many nieces and nephews to count.

The eldest of six children, Don grew up in Verdun. His youth included swimming at the ‘Nat’, Scouting, canoeing around the island of Montreal, going to dances, and walking to Onward Gospel Chapel as a family, often three times on a Sunday.

Don and Joan raised their family in the West Island. Don was an active member of St. Michael and All Angels Church, and he was a strong chorister, most recently singing bass with The Stewart Hall Singers. His children fondly remember hikes with him and the family camping vacations.

In retirement, he and Joan travelled widely, and Don took up curling and lawn bowling in Pointe-Claire.
Don loved his family and his life with Joan. As long as he had these and his other two constants, books and classical music, he was content.

A family memorial will be held at a later date.
