<div itemprop="description">Eleftheria (Gritsas) Spiliotopoulos peacefully passed away May 10, 2022 at 12:30 am at the age of 89.<br><br>Eleftheria was born in Komi, Arcadia, Greece October 7, 1932. She arrived in Canada in 1957 to pave the way for a more hopeful future for herself and her 7 other siblings away from their war-torn homeland. She returned to Greece where she married Athanasios Spiliotopoulos Nov 6, 1961 and brought him to Canada where they started their 60+ years journey together. <br><br>Eleftheria is survived by her husband Athanasios, son Constantinos (Stavroula Razis, children Stefania and Tommy), and son Alexis (Helen Panagopoulos, children Eleftheria (Teri) and Stavroula (Stevie)).<br>Eleftheria was the eldest of 8 children born to Alexis Gritsas and Assimo Papavasiliou. <br><br>Eleftheria is survived by her 3 sisters: Helen Spiropoulos (Stavros, daughters Georgia & Matina), Maria Karatzias (Peter, sons Steve & George), Aresmia Vergos (Constantinos (deceased), children George, Alex, Patricia), and 2 brothers: Peter Gritsas (Maria (deceased), children Assimo (Mina), Cathy, Elisabeth (Betty), Alexia, Alex), and Costas Gritsas (Vasiliki, daughters Assimo (Mina), Joanna, Christina). <br><br>Eleftheria is pre-deceased by her 2 brothers Trifonas Gritsas (survived by Kalliopi and their children Alexis, Aris, Sophia) and George Gritsas (survived by Maria and their children Alexis, Assimo, Voula, Dimitrios (Jimmy))<br><br>The wake is on Sunday May 15 from 4 pm – 9 pm at Rideau Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4239 Sources Blvd, DDO, QC.<br><br>Church service is on Monday May 16 at 11 am at Agios Kon/Agia Heleni Greek Orthodox Church, 20 Brunswick Blvd, DDO QC. The burial ceremony follows immediately after on the grounds of Rideau Cemetery. <br><br>Coffee will be served downstairs at the church following the burial.<br></div>
