It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Emily Baker (nee Gill) at the Lancaster Long Term Care Residence on January 10th, 2022 at the remarkable age of 102 years old. She is predeceased by her first husband George Pickle (father to her son Gordon) and second husband Graham Baker (father to her stepsons Rob, Tim and George).

Emily is survived by her son Gordon (Linda), stepsons Rob (the late Chantal), Tim (Joan), and George (Linda). She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Beth (Michael), Patrick (Heidi), David (Melissa), Nicolas (Stephanie), Caroline (Alistair), Katherine (Guillaume), Andrew, Laurie, Brian (Stephanie), Gary and Michael (Janelle) as well as her numerous great-grandchildren.

Born and raised in Lachine, QC, Emily was adored by many for her kind and caring nature. She left an impression on everyone she met with the kindness she exuded. She was renowned for her baking which was enjoyed by all who knew her. Emily thought often of her friends and family, and a catch-up phone call with her always left you with a warm feeling as she communicated her well wishes for your various endeavors in life.

During their time together, Emily and Graham enjoyed close friendships (and many a game of cards) with neighbors on Forest Gardens Avenue in Pointe Claire. In moving to Ontario, they became valued members of the Wilmot Creek community in Bowmanville, where many more games of cards were played and an active social circle was thoroughly enjoyed. During her time in Bowmanville, Emily was a proud member of the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and cherished the community it provided.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Lancaster Care Residence for their excellent care of Emily in her final years. As per Emily’s wishes, and in keeping with her lifelong love of cats, donations may be made to the Durham Humane Society or Ontario Diabetes Society in lieu of flowers.
