It is with profound sorrow that we share the news of the passing of Dida (Farida) Rahwan on January 10, 2024. She departed this world surrounded by the love of her family and friends, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever linger in our hearts.

Dida was born on January 5, 1942, in Cairo, Egypt, and embarked on a journey that touched the lives of many. On May 7, 1967, she married Joseph Rahwan, and together they began a new chapter in Montreal, Canada.

Preceded in death by her brother Farouk Eid (Irene Pentucci), she is survived by her beloved husband Joseph Rahwan, her son George (Cathy Jamieson), her daughter Lynn (Francesco Ruvo), and her grandchildren Anthony and Gabriella. Dida's memory will also be cherished by her brother Fouad Eid (Angel Hage), her nephew Henri Eid, her nieces Denise and Sondra Eid, as well as other loving friends and family. Dida dedicated 25 years of her life to Bell Canada, working diligently to provide the best for her family. Her grace, style, and devotion to both her professional and personal life were admirable. Her greatest joy was spending precious moments with her family.

A woman of deep faith, Dida was a devoted member of the Saint George Orthodox Church choir for 40 years and loved singing the Byzantine Hymns. Beyond her professional and religious pursuits, Dida had a passion for cooking, needlepoint, singing, and dancing. Her vibrant spirit and zest for life were contagious, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in Dida's honor to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada and/or to Saint George Orthodox Church of Montreal. These contributions will serve as a lasting tribute to a woman whose compassion, kindness, and generosity touched the lives of many.

As we bid farewell to Dida Rahwan, let us remember the joy she brought into our lives and the legacy of love and faith she leaves behind. May she rest in eternal peace.

( If you are unable to attend the service on Wednesday, 31 Jan 2024 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM, you may view it as a live stream by inserting the following link in your browser: https://fweb.tv/116214 )
