Francis André ''Frank'' D'Abadie
November 10, 1924 - November 18, 2022
Dr. Francis Andre (Frank) d’Abadie, MD CM, Following a short illness, Frank passed away quietly at Teresa Dellar Palliative Residence in Kirkland, Quebec on November 18th, 2022.
Frank was born in Santa Cruz, Trinidad, and after the age of two he passed his early years with his family in the tropical island of Tobago. After high school he worked for four years in the oilfields of Venezuela following which he obtained an undergraduate degree at University of California, Berkley and then transferred to McGill University to pursue his studies in Medicine.
He specialised in Cardiology, working for many years at St.Mary’s Hospital, Montreal. He also studied at Mt Sinai Hospital in New York and other US institutions where he obtained additional accreditations in his field. For a time Frank was also Chief Medical Officer for Sun Life Assurance in Montreal and a medical consultant for Manulife. Being an avid golfer, at Kahnawake and having a sharp wit, he made many life-long friends. After retirement Frank moved to Lakeshore Drive in Pointe-Claire. He passed many interesting years there, caring for his beloved dog Otto and involving himself in the neighbourhood. Frank spent his final three years living at the Wellesley retirement home on Hymus Blvd where he made many more friends and was well cared for by the excellent staff there.
He was the youngest of his siblings and is the last of his line, predeceased by parents, mother Marcelle (nee de Verteuil), father St. Luce (Jim) d’Abadie. Brothers Ray, Gervais, Noel, Louis and Cecil and sisters Yvette (Storey) and Jocelyne.
He was also predeceased by sisters- in-law June (Ray) and Bridget (Noel) and brother-in-law Ben Storey. Frank is survived by sister- in-law Lucille (Cecil) and a multitude of nephews and nieces.
A church service will take place at 11:30 am on Saturday December 10th, 2022 at St. John Fisher Church 120 Av. Summerhill, Pointe Claire, followed by a reception at the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Teresa Dellar, Palliative Residence in Kirkland, P.Q. would be appreciated.
