<div itemprop="description"><br> <br>Hilda Shannon Fung-A-Ling <br>January 8, 1921 - December 28, 2019 <br> <br>Hilda passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at The Jewish General Hospital; she was in her 98th year. <br>Loving wife and best friend of Claude Fung-A-Ling for 69 unforgettable years, cherished mother of Margaret (the late Ron Capanna), Valerie (Pierre Bigras), Michael (Kadiji Ellis) and Grandmother of Yannick and Max Bigras. Survived also by nieces Martine Chartrand, Trish Fung-A-Ling and nephews Robert Chartrand and Charles Foucrault. <br>Hilda was the second daughter of the late George Albert Shannon and Maria Ann Lefort. <br>She is predeceased by her sisters Alice (Paul Labrosse) and Dora (Real Chartrand) and brother, George Shannon. <br>Hilda grew up in Cote-St-Paul (Montreal) and lived there until June 2,1951 when she married Claude at Holy Cross Parish. <br>For 48 years, Hilda and Claude’s home was in Dollard-des-Ormeaux where they brought up their family and remained through most of their retirement years. In 2009, they moved to Pointe-Claire. <br>Hilda worked at CNR in her early years and at McGill University Student Services until her retirement. Her fondest memories of her years at McGill were her interaction and friendships with the students; they often affectionately referred to her as the « Captain of their ship » or « the one in control ». <br> <br>The family would like to express their deep gratitude to Hilda’s dedicated caregivers who tirelessly gave her encouragement, strength and love during her last two years. <br> <br>Hilda’s loving nature, her gorgeous smile, beautiful hazel eyes and insatiable spirit were unforgettable and will remain in our hearts forever. <br> <br>Family and friends will gather at a memorial celebration of Hilda’s life on Saturday, January 11, 2020 (10:00 am) at Rideau Memorial Gardens (Arbor room), <br>4275 Sources Blvd, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QC H9B 2A6 – (514) 685-3344. <br>Private interment to take place at Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery in Montreal. <br></div>
