After a courageous journey through cancer, Dr. John C. Zwaagstra entered his heavenly home in the early hours of Thursday, March 2nd, 2023 - surrounded by the love and music of his family.

He is loved and dearly missed by his treasured wife Barbara Zwaagstra as well as their children Andrea, Sharon (Samuel) Cardin, Daniel (Kristyna) Zwaagstra, Melody (François) Girard, Kendra, Anneliese, Christopher (fiancé Sabrina Granata), and Nathan.

Devoted and beloved Pake to Madison Zwaagstra, Christophe, Éloïse, and Clara Girard.

Son of the late Melle Zwaagstra and Janneke Dykstra; and remembered by his dear brother Nick Zwaagstra and partner John Plews.

John was a stalwart, humble soul who left an impression on all who had the chance to meet him; a man of dedication in all areas of his life - from young adult years heading up young adult rallies and actively a part of The Praise Singers, pursuing his phD in medical sciences and virology, cancer research in his professional life, passion for music (singing and guitar), investing in his notably large family, and his tireless care for the church family he served at Westend Bible Chapel.

He loved a good dad joke, dubbel zout dropje's, ice cream, music, bike rides, and a good Sunday afternoon snooze. He dearly loved the relationships he built and grew through sharing the things that he enjoyed, and above all, dedicated his life to living out the faith he built his life upon.

He leaves behind a great many friends, acquaintances, and family who love him dearly and miss him profoundly. After a lifetime of good and faithful service, this BEAUTIFUL SOUL has entered into his well deserved rest in the Presence of his Lord.
