<div itemprop="description">Junia Lillian Wilson, age 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 30th, 2020. <br> <br>Beloved wife of Hollis Wilson for almost 50 years, loving mother to Kevin (Catherine) and Edmund (Janet). Cherished grandmother to Nathan, Gabrielle and Jaydan. She will be greatly missed by her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. <br> <br>Junia was born in Saint Vincent in 1942. She spent her formative years in Aruba and emigrated to Canada in 1966. Already fluent in English, Dutch and Papiamento, Junia became proficient in French as she set down roots in the Montreal area. <br>In 1974, Junia graduated from Sir George Williams University (Concordia) with a degree in Urban Geography. In pursuing her passion on becoming an educator, she graduated from McGill University in 1975 with a diploma in Education. Junia taught History, Geography, English and other subjects at various high schools throughout the city. <br> <br>Member of the Quebec Board of Black Educators, she was a passionate teacher of Black History and was a staple at the Dacosta-Hall summer school program. <br> <br>Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 12th from 10:00-11:00 at Rideau Funeral Home. Please note that because of the situation with the COVID-19 Pandemic, places are limited, so guests are invited to shortly pay their respects, and follow the Rideau Funeral Home hygiene protocols. <br> <br>The family will hold a small funeral service at 11:00 and the burial will follow at 12:00, again, respecting the social distancing and hygiene protocols. <br> <br>For those who want to attend the service safely from home, the service will be live streamed here: www.livememorialservices.com/Home/ServiceDetail/6639 <br> <br>In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Montreal Alzheimer Society would be appreciated. www.alzheimermontreal.ca <br></div>
