With much sadness, we announce the passing of Mark Geoffrey Stratford on September 3, 2020 at the age of 59 after a courageous battle with cancer. The son of Michael and Helen Jean Stratford, Mark is survived by his father, his wife Josephine Worthing, his two brothers, Peter and Ian Stratford, and their collective families. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews as well as extended family and friends.

As a life-long resident of the West Island of Montreal, he was proud of his roots and embraced all the community had to offer, never wanting to live any place else. Mark enjoyed family and friends and engaging with others in thoughtful discourse. His keen wit and worldly views made for active and lively social engagements.

After much searching, Mark found his passion in computer programming and all the challenges that came with that. He spent his career working with Megamation Systems Inc., where he worked on a number of projects throughout his career.

His love of music was a constant throughout his life and evolved from appreciating a wide range of artists to the challenge of playing an instrument. He picked up a guitar and keyboard later in life and enjoyed the solace of playing to pass the time.

We wish to express our sincere gratitude to the staff at NOVA West Island and the West Island Palliative Care Residence for their kindness, care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Mark’s name to NOVA West Island or West Island Palliative Care Residence would be appreciated.
