Our parents give us life.
Our grandparents give us a sense of who we are and where we came from.
Our great grandparents give us our ancestry and our roots.

Today, we are all gathered here to say goodbye to Biji.
Sheela Wati Bhardwaj (Biji) was born on Dec 10, 1926, in Morran, India, to parents Ramchand Bhardwaj and Gokli Devi. She had 3 sisters and 5 brothers. Being the middle child, she helped raise her siblings.

At a young age, she married the late Durga Dass Sharma (Bauji) on March 12, 1941, in India. They had a beautiful and loving marriage and were blessed with 5 children, Surender Kumar, Surender Lata, Prem Lata, Ravinder Kumar and Narender Kumar.

Biji embraced her new life in Canada when she moved to Montréal in 1980. She became a central part of the lives of her grandchildren in Canada and the USA. She accompanied her late husband and her son at the Hindu Mission Temple which was founded in 1980 and was a regular for Sunday service for over 40 years. She always emphasized the importance of girls being educated and advocated for higher education. She enjoyed cooking, watching Indian shows, and knitting. It’s wonderful to know that Nama shares Biji’s passion of knitting.

Biji and Bauji would go for regular walks, take their grandchildren to La Ronde, take them to watch the fireworks, watch the July 1st parade in the West Island and attended the Rath Yatra every year. Their love and respect for each other is an inspiration to us all.

Biji has left 4 children, 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren on October 14, 2021. She passed peacefully with her loved ones. Biji never asked anything from anyone, she was always ready to offer sweets, blessings, and love. She had a full life, and we all feel very blessed to have had her in our lives.

Thank you for being here today to wish her peace in her next journey. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all her loved ones.

The funeral ceremony will be live streamed on the following link https://funeraweb.tv/diffusions/38880
