It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Joseph Smyth, beloved father and grandfather, on 2025-05-13, at the age of 79.
Bill was born in Montreal, was a passionate car enthusiast throughout his life and participated actively with the Montreal MG Car Club. He volunteered with various organizations, most recently with L'Actuel in Vaudreuil driving people to their appointments. Bill is known by all that meet him for his kind and giving nature. He was selfless, dedicated and loyal, and his grandchildren will fondly remember him for the times that if they couldn't fix it, Grampa could.
He is survived by his family, children Suzanne and Kristina (Jason), their mother, Marlene, and his grandchildren Gavin, Xavier, Naomi, Victoria and Evelyn. He is pre-deceased by his parents William C Smyth and Marion Odell, as well as his sisters, Frances Phoenix and Sally Longhurst.
A funeral service will take place at 1pm on June 7th, 2025, at St. Patrick of the Island Catholic Church located at 278 rue Shamrock, Pincourt QC. The family will receive guests at a reception following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to centre d'action benevole L'Actuel (https://www.lactuel.org/en/donations/) in Bill's memory.
